How to Overcome Panic Attacks

Anyone who has had a panic attack knows just how huge a issue they can be. In the more serious cases folks become housebound and very lonely because of their panic attacks.

Once you've got over your panic attacks you can get on with your life. Many individuals who have regular panic attacks simply wish to be able to get on with their lives.

There are some easy techniques you'll be able to use to assist you overcome panic attacks and stop them from happening as frequently.

When you begin to panic your breathing can always speed up and become very shallow. When you are in a relaxed state focus on your breathing and teach yourself to breath deeply and evenly from the bottom of your stomach. You need to be able to breath like this without having to think about it.

The moment you feel a panic attack starting, focus on breathing in this deep, regular manner. It usually helps to sit down and close your eyes to permit yourself to concentrate on your breathing. This can sometimes be enough to stop a panic attack.

This can become second nature to you with some practise and you will find yourself automatically breathing this way when you begin to panic. Initially you'll want to have a cue to remind you to breath in this way, maybe write it on your hand or tell the folks around you to remind you.

If you are more relaxed then you may often notice it easier to deal with panic attacks. You can learn yoga or meditation or self hypnosis to help you relax more.

Panic attacks come from the feeling of being out of control, concern and not being able to cope. You end up not thinking straight because of the strain these induce. Through these relaxation techniques you can let go of the stress and stop the panic attack from taking over.

By gaining an understanding of what triggers your panic attacks you can begin to avoid any of these situations. There are always going to be triggers you can't avoid therefore you wish to vary how you feel regarding them. There are a variety of techniques you'll use to try and do this, but 1 of the most effective is for you to visualise yourself just before you enter the situation feeling relaxed. Keep that relaxed feeling as you go through the situation in your mind.

Your sub-conscious mind does not understand the difference between reality and imagination (just imagine one thing painful and you will realize this is often true) so you will ammend your feelings about these situations

If you are doing this visualization enough, the things that previously caused panic can only make you relaxed and calm. It is an odd sensation when this happens.

With the techniques you've got simply read you can overcome panic attacks. With a little bit of patience and time you'll see some fantastic results.
